What is Arts in Medicine?
Arts in Medicine (AIM) is a nationwide movement that integrates all forms of expressive arts into healthcare settings in order to provide creative outlets for patients, caregivers and staff. Research shows that creative outlets reduce anxiety and create an environment that is more conducive to healing, both physically and psychologically. Artistic expression also raises circulating endorphins and helps engage our bodies natural "relaxation response."

At the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center, our AIM Program started in 2008 and offers a full range of creative arts/activities that prove therapeutic during a challenging time. These opportunities fortify an individual's ability to cope with illness and treatment and are intended to inspire, comfort, encourage and empower.

The Arts in Medicine services include access to the AIM Studio creative arts/activities and live musical performances in the lobby. They also coordinate the regular rotation of artwork throughout the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center. Simultaneously, the 'Arts in Medicine experience' may connect individuals who are undergoing similar struggles, creating a sense of community with other patients, survivors, caregivers and care providers.

Breast Cancer Survivorship Workshop Series:
The Watson Clinic Foundation’s Arts in Medicine (AIM) program is pleased to present a series of educational and creative workshops that empower survivors to reconnect with their community and their sense of self. These workshops are made possible thanks to generous grant provided by the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization dedicated to ending the suffering caused by breast cancer through research, education, advocacy, living expense, mammogram, and medical item programs.
