GiveWell Community Foundation Gifts Generous Grant to the Watson Clinic Foundation AIM Program

8/16/2024

The Watson Clinic Foundation’s Arts in Medicine (AIM) program has been presented with a generous grant in the amount of $4,725.00 from the GiveWell Community Foundation, a charitable organization that addresses community needs throughout Polk County.

The grant was presented in response to an application submitted as part of the organization’s 2024 Impact Polk competition and was distributed from the George W. Jenkins Fund within the GiveWell Community Foundation.

Located on the second floor of the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center at 1730 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland, the Watson Clinic Foundation’s Arts in Medicine program offers all forms of the creative arts - including watercolor painting, origami, and mosaics - for cancer patients, caregivers and family members at the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center. Research shows that these creative outlets reduce anxiety and create an environment that is conducive to improved patient outcomes.

“The GiveWell Community Foundation has shown tremendous support to our program and – by extension – cancer patients and caregivers in our community for many years,” said Arts in Medicine Program Coordinator Tiffany Van Wieren. “This grant will continue to empower the next generation of survivors on their healing journey.”
