Live Artists

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Arts In Medicine Live Artists!

Our Artistry Alive program is a partnership program with Lakeland Arts Association. Through this program, we feature guest artists who create live works of art in the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center. Viewing art has shown to have significant impact on patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers alike. Being able to view artwork as it is created is also a wonderful way to experience art in new ways for patients and caregivers battling serious illnesses like Cancer.

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18-years-old.
  • Times are agreed upon between the artist, LAA, and the AIM Coordinator.
  • Artists are invited to participate on a Monthly schedule.
  • Complete a mandatory criminal background check, health screen and orientation.
  • Adhere to the Watson Clinic policies and procedures, including the dress code.
  • Be responsible for communicating when unavailable for assigned shift.
  • Any tools & supplies or additional equipment required must be brought in and set up by the artist.
Essential Skills Needed:
  • Volunteers are comfortable creating art in front of people.
  • Volunteers must be self-starters who can work independently and with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Volunteers must demonstrate clear active-listening communication skills.
  • Volunteers must demonstrate objectivity and will not personalize their own experiences.
  • Volunteers are mature individuals who can provide a positive atmosphere and can empathize with people living with cancer.
  • Volunteers have a love for the creative arts and a belief that patient and their families might benefit from their music.
  • Volunteers follow direction from staff.
