When the focus turns to your family’s educational needs, Lakeland is home to an assortment of public and private schools for children of all ages as well as colleges and university campuses. Southeastern University (pictured here) is located in Lakeland, Florida and offers over 60 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs. The Polk County School System comprises the 8th largest district in the state of Florida with sites including traditional elementary, middle and high schools, magnet and choice schools, charter schools and technical schools.

Education and research are the keys to unlocking the medical breakthroughs of tomorrow. Watson Clinic has recognized the importance of this responsibility to our community since our inception.

The Watson Clinic Foundation, established in 1960, is dedicated to building a healthier community through a series of outreach efforts, including free health screenings, medical scholarship programs, and educational opportunities, for area physicians and the public at large.

Our focus on shaping the future of healthcare carries into our extensive research efforts as well. Founded in 1985, the Watson Clinic Center for Research remains on the cusp of innovation with ongoing studies related to breast, colorectal and lung cancers, atrial fibrillation, asthma, melanoma, congestive heart failure, coronary artery diseases and additional life-threatening diseases and illnesses.

Watson Clinic understands that knowledge can be the most powerful tool when it comes to ensuring a lifetime of good health. That’s why Watson Clinic has worked to empower the community with a series of enlightening and informative educational outreach events. Our community lecture series features the expertise of many of our top specialists from departments as varied as orthopaedic surgery, plastic surgery, cardiology, neurology, podiatry, and more. These physicians discuss the latest treatments, technologies, and prevention techniques related to some of the most pressing medical issues of the day. These events are open to the public and help to inspire a more proactive approach to personal wellness.
